As soon as I heard the first notes of the Clapton soundtrack I was hooked, it's been a long time since I saw this and it's still fantastic.

I saw this when it first came out. It blew my mind with the plot line and the use of flashback with Emma. The music was the hook though and so when I bought my new iPad this was the first download I paid for. It was a risk as in my view looking back is never a good thing but I was not disappointed. It was exactly as I remembered and hasn't lost anything over time. Brill

  • One of the BBC's crowning achievements

If you have never seen it, plug a great yawning chasm in your televisual experience. Intelligent, opinionated, driven by plot and yet redolent with theme, every metaphor hitting exactly the target it aims for and every cast member absolutely nailing it. If Bob Peck had only ever done this, then his entire career would have still been worthwhile. His Ronnie Craven is a masterclass in understated agony. Pre-Kilmer Joanne Whalley is riveting as his daughter, gunned down in the opening sequence, and Joe Don Baker’s golf-obsessed CIA man is just wonderful. The absolute jewel in Troy Kennedy Martin’s pretty damned illustrious career (even if he did rather misconstrue the Daisyworld Model) , and possibly BBC Drama's finest moment of 1980s. Also, probably the single most unsettling scene involving a vibrator you will ever see.
  • Stunning

This series has stuck in my memory from the showing in the 80's. It was brilliant then and is just as powerful now. Bob Peck is so much more convincing then Mel Gibson. One the finest mini TV series ever done. I have looked for it for years well done itunes.
