Produced by comedy heavyweight Judd Apatow, The Big Sick is the hilarious and heart-rending true story of Pakistan-born aspiring comedian Kumail (Nanjiani), who connects with grad student Emily (Zoe Kazan) after one of his standup sets. What they thought would be just a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing, which complicates the life that is expected of Kumail by his traditional Muslim parents. When Emily is beset with a mystery illness, it forces Kumail to navigate the medical crisis with her parents, (Holly Hunter and Ray Romano) who he's never met, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart.

  • Endearing quirky comedy

Not at all what I expected, utterly charming and very non-American humour. Definately worth watching if you have a dry sense of humour

This is a delicious movie lots of fun, cuts through relationships and what matters, and lovely cast - it's real romance, nothing gratuitous, brilliant casting, a real treat of a movie

This is one of the freshest, most enjoyable movies I've watched in ages and EASILY the best romantic comedy I have seen in years. It's funny, romantic, life-affirming, authentic and just awesome in every way I can think of. It's got all the good things you'd get in an Apatow movie but it's just... better. It's so nicely made and written and edited every scene is funny, interesting, compelling or in some other way worth watching. The acting's great, the writing's great. Just a massive 100% watch-this-movie recommendation. My wife and I never agree on movies but we both thought this was a great great movie.
