Inspired by the incredible true story, Eddie The Eagle is the feel-good British comedy of the year. Michael "Eddie" Edwards (Taron Egerton), is the unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself - even as an entire nation was counting him out. With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach (played by Hugh Jackman), Eddie takes on the establishment and wins the hearts of a nation by making an improbable and historic jump at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. From the producers of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle stars Taron Egerton as Eddie, the lovable underdog with a never say die attitude. Adored by critics and audiences alike, Eddie is the hilarious comedy that will warm your heart this year.

Don't usually write many reviews, but this is such a great, feel good film. I was smiling from start to finish! If your looking for a film to lift your spirits, where dreams can become reality, then this is a must watch.
  • No accessibility

I'm sure it's a good film but very disappointed to discover there's no closed captions for the Deaf and hard of hearing. This is a recently released film so the technology is there to embed closed captions. Very poor show from the film's producers - especially British producers - that they've excluded deaf and hard of hearing people from enjoying this film.
  • No subtitles

How come there are no subtitles? Surprised that in 2017, subtitles cannot be shown.
  • This is a truly outstanding gem of a film

If like me you are of a certain age (I was a teenager at the time this all happened) then you may or may not have memories of the events that this story portrays. This is a wonderful film with superb performances by Taron Egerton who pulls of some of Eddie's trademark facial expressions and the usual excellent performances we expect from Hugh Jackman whose supporting role around his unlikely friendship with Eddie is a joy to watch. I had to keep reminding myself that even with artistic license, what I was watching was based on a true story. The underdog who just refuses to give up against all the odds and watching the film brought all of the hysetria around 'The Eagle' flooding back from my childhood. Other notable performances from other great British actors like Jim Broadbent and Tim McInnery as the British Olympic committee and Keith Allen as Eddies long suffering dad really add to the feel of the movie, and right to the end even knowing the outcome I found myself on the edge of my seat willing Eddie to perform. This is a proper family film, one that can teach everyone to never give up in your trials of daily life, to stretch for your dreams and never settle... My favourite film of the year so far !

Wonderful heart warming film. I watched this guy as a teenager and riddiculed him. I joined the poisonous british press in laughing at him, I regret this greatly. This delightful film humbles me in admiration for one of the bravest most resilliant men I have heard of. Not because of great intellect or world beating skill but because of a beautiful, brave and stalwart heart. Eddie hats off you, Heroes do not always win gold. You won my heart today 30 years later. Awesome
